If you rent a car, you can drive from Alcudia, the port town where Club MAC Alcudia is based to Palma in around three quarters of an hour. You can also get buses from Alcudia to Palma or you could even explore the city before you come to our resort, as your flight will arrive in Palma Airport.

When you travel to Palma, you’re set for the adventure of a lifetime. Founded in 124 B.C., Palma has been inhabited for centuries, so it has a tonne of great attractions. You could acquaint yourself with the city’s religious life by checking out Palma Cathedral, which is built in a grand Catalan Gothic style, or learn about its past by heading to Bellver Castle, one of the last circular castles left in Europe!

Royal Palace of La Almudaina

You could also head tothe Royal Palace of La Almudaina, one of Palma’s most popular tourist sites. Built way back in the 13th Century A.D., the building is a fortified palace, which served as the seat of the independent Kingdom of Majorca, until it became a part of the Kingdom of Aragon.

The Royal Palace of La Almudaina is an absolutely breath-taking building. It’s famous rectangular tower, King’s Palace, Queen’s Palace, Tinell Hall and Royal Chapel buildings are all fabulous architectural gems that you are sure to love. The Palace is just as exciting on the inside, as it features sumptuous tapestries, fixtures and furnishings from a range of historical periods!

We can’t talk about The Royal Palace of La Almudaina without mentioning its main attraction, its changing of the guard ceremony (Relevo de la Guardia de Honor). Held at noon on the last Saturday of every month in front of the Palace, this event is a sight to behold. During this colourful ceremony, soldiers don historic uniforms to emulate the traditions set down by those who came before them, putting on a fantastic show for you to watch!

The Royal Palace of La Almudaina, originally secularized in 1839, now serves as the official residence of the King of Spain during summer ceremonies. But don’t worry, you can still visit this fine Palma attraction, which is based on Carrer del Palau Reial, in the heart of Majorca’s stunning capital!

The Palace is open from 10am to 8pm between 1st April and 30th September and from 10am to 6pm in the quieter winter season, from 1st October to 31st March. However it is always closed on Mondays. Don’t worry, a visit to the Royal Palace of La Almudaina won’t set you back too much, tickets cost 7€ and children under five years old can enter the attraction for free!
